Week 7: Part 1

While growing up as a child I was never forced or ever felt like I had to play with certain toys. For example my parents never forced me to play with dolls. I was allowed to play with toys more popular among boys such as legos or video games. In our society certain toys are made targeting girls. The Rose Petal Cottage House is a play house for girls where they can take care of a child and play as a real mom. This shapes the children's idea that a women has to raise a family and take care of a child.

By having children's toys be advertised towards one sex leads to general ideas about life roles a male and female have to portray in their lives.
